Humans
I became quite bored after being abruptly woken at 6:30 this morning, so, I decided to play around a bit on the internet. For some reason I got to thinking about humans and our origin (my mind never ceases to wander) therefore, I did a little research.
It doesn't tell much, but, it's interesting [to me] none the less...
Now, I know some of you may not be the brightest bulbs, so, I took the liberty of defining [dumb down] the 'big words for you...
Scientific Classification…

Chordata -
(A group of animals that include the vertebrates.)
Subphylum:
Vertebrata-

Infraphylum:
Gnathostomata-
(A group of vertebrates with jaws.)
Superclass:
Tetrapoda-
(Vertebrate animals have feet or legs.)
Class:
Mamalia-
[You should know what a mammal is, but I’ll dumb it down just in case]
(A class of vertebrate animals whose females are characterized by the possession of mammary glands while both males and females are characterized by sweat glands, hair, three middle ear bones used in hearing, and a neocortex region in the brain.)
Subclass:
Theria-
(A subclass of mammals that give birth to live young without using a shelled egg.)
Infraclass:
Eutheria-
(A group of mammals consisting of placental [placenta: an organ unique to mammals that connects the developing fetus to the uterine wall] mammals plus all extinct mammals that are more closely related to live placentals.)
Order:
Primates-
[Again, if you don’t know what a primate is…you need slapped.]
{Fun fact though: With the exception of humans, who inhabit every continent on Earth, most primates live in tropical or subtropical regions of the Americas, Africa, and Asia.}
Suborder:
Haplorrhini-
(A ‘dry-nosed’ primate.)
Infraorder:
Simiiformes-
(The ‘higher primates’ - Old World monkeys, Apes, & Humans.)
Parvorder:
Catarrhini-
(One of the three major divisions [again] - Old World monkeys, Apes, & Humans.)
Superfamily:
Hominoidea-
(Ape.)
Family:
Hominidae-
(“Great Apes” - A taxonomic family, including four extant genera: Chimpanzees, Gorillas, Humans, & Orangutans.)
Subfamily:
Homininae-
(A subfamily of Hominidae, which include Humans, Gorillas, and Chimpanzees, and some extinct human relatives that arose after the split from the other Great Apes [of which the Orangutans are the only surviving group.])
Tribe:
Hominini-
(The tribe of Homininae that comprises humans and two species of Chimpanzee, their ancestors, and the extinct lineages of their common ancestor.)
Subtribe:
Hominina-
(Characterized by the evolution of an increasingly erect bipedal locomotion.)
Genus:
Homo-
(The genus that includes modern humans and their close relatives. The genus is estimated to be about 2.5 million years old [suck on that Christians,] evolving from Australopithecine ancestors with the appearance of Homo habilis.)
Species:
H. Sapiens
Subspecies:
H.s. Sapiens
